These days with poor food, processed food, high amounts of sugar, daily stress and of course a chronic lack of sleep our energy levels are chronically low because we are lacking in what our brain needs. We rely on vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, minerals, and glucose constantly every minute of every day. With that, we must get a proper amount of rest, relaxation, and sleep.

For many ME/CFS and FM patients, that time is mid-afternoon to early evening. Many fibromyalgia patients find mornings the best. Find the time that’s best for you.


Do One Thing at a Time (Avoid Multi-Tasking)

Many people experience fog when they try to do more than one thing at a time, such as reading while watching TV or talking while fixing dinner. The solution: instead of multi-tasking, do only one thing at a time. To avoid interruptions, teach family members to wait by saying things like, “I’m [fixing dinner, talking on the phone, etc.] right now, but I’ll help you as soon as I’m done.


Use Routine

The suggested tasks are all simple ones that I look forward to implementing into my daily routine (or removing from my daily routine in the case of not multi-tasking).

  3. I started taking HCF upon recommendation from my physician to combat some of the side effects as I am a recovering alcoholic. One of the unfortunate effects of drinking over a long period of time is severe vitamin B1 deficiency which can cause brain damage (in areas mostly associated with memory, heart regulation and even movement.) 

    After taking these as directed for only a week it felt like the “mental fog” started to recede and I was more focused, my memory didnt feel so loose and I just felt closer to being me again.   4. Thanks for all these tips for improving my state of concentration.

    I have found out that for me the time I do my most important tasks is in the early morning. I like to get up at 5 AM, when everything is quiet and the temperatures here in Thailand are still comfortable.

    I can work for 6 to 7 hours practically in a row then, take a break at 9 for a second coffee and some snack.

    I’ll try to enrich my rice and pork snack with some brain supplement and see if I can add a productive afternoon with this additive.

    • Sound great including living in Thailand.  I too get up at 5am before my wife and kids to get some work done.

  5. I always found it really amazing that when you feel sleepy and tired that the best way to feel energized is to exercise. It would seem that spending more energy is the opposite of what you actually need, but you explain why exercise makes such a difference in a very clear and beautiful way.

    In fact your approach to brain fog is really clear and simple to understand.

    It is very clear to me that I need to let my brain rest during the day more, especially towards the end of the day before sleeping.

Thanks for your review of medications which help us to think more clearly.  We live in a very complicated, rushed world and need every advantage to think more clearly and do better.  Many of the amino acids are precursors to neurotransmitters and the two that are in HCF are the most important ones.

  8. I have recently got back into exercising in order to help with my brain fog. I find it a little bit hard to take breaks in between my usual day job on top of working a business. I want to be able to work full time on the business so I have to build it on top of work. 

    How much time do you take for your breaks if I may ask?

This is a really great article to help people like me who suffer from brain fog on occasion.  It is not a great feeling at all to feel all foggy in the brain.I didn’t know that there was something we could do about it.  It is difficult to control stress and take a breal every once in a while.  Everybody wants to multitask and get every thing done at once.  I see now that it is much better to just take one thing at a time.  Brain supplements sounds like a great thing to help with brain fog.
