Introduction to Mind Lab Pro Supplement Review

Mind lab pro is another nootropic stack with a number of proven ingredients and above all they are natural.  In this Mind Lab Pro supplement review I will go over the ingredients and what they can do for you as well as how to use, and my take on Mind Lab Pro.

Their focus with this product was cognitive performance, specifically mindset or your motivation and creativity, memory to improve learning and your recall, cognitive performance for speed and

focus and to help with ageing.

By this Mind Lab Pro is designed to cover all aspects of brain enhancement rather than just motivation, or just focus, or just anxiety etc.

For those who like a very clean product, you will be happy to know it is gluten-free, vegan-friendly, non-allergenic and has none of those GMOs.

In my Best Nootropic Supplements for 2019, I have chosen Mind Lab Pro as one of my top 3.  You can read it here!!

Ingredients

When having a look at the ingredients I can see a few that appear in many stacks, but in different proportions, but I also see others including Maritime Pine Bark which I will explain below. So let’s dive into the ingredients and why they are included.

Citicoline as Cognizin®

Citicoline is a pretty amazing nootropic, especially its ability to enhance our memory and to prevent memory loss. It has been shown in human research to promote mood balance, memory, attention, focus and concentration.

The ability of citicoline to improve phospholipid metabolism and reduce oxidative stress shows that it has a neuroprotective effect. Citicoline being a nootropic supplement, enhances focus, attention, and cognitive function in healthy individuals. Two recent placebo-controlled trials have shown the benefits of citicoline in healthy adults and teens. (1).

The effects of citicoline in those with cognitive impairments from a head injury, stroke, or other causes. Most of these studies suggest that citicoline supports cognitive health and neurological recovery (2).

Citicoline is best known because of its ability to improve our memory and to prevent memory loss. It is frequently associated with anti-aging and has been studied as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

CDP choline can also increase our ability to concentrate for longer periods with less distraction.  It enhances the focus we need to study, to master a new skill, or to complete any complex and mentally demanding tasks.

Mind Lab Pro Supplement Review

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is a naturally occurring amino acid with a lot of terrific benefits for our brains, stress, and mood and is the precursor for dopamine, adrenaline, and norepinephrine. [1]

Dopamine is involved in pleasure and reward and plays an important roll in our mood and motivation.  Adrenaline is our drive and focus, and norepinephrine muscle recovery and blood flow. l tyrosine benefits side effects

These last two together modulate our blood pressure, heart rate and even blood sugar.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine shows it may support peak performance from your brain and your body by improving neural communication and helping you better handle stress.

L-Theanine (Suntheanine®)

This is the calming ingredient typically found in green tea and is why so many millions of people enjoy a cup of green tea. L-Theanine will put you into a calm stress-free state and at the same time sharpen your attention, alertness, and focus.

It is used for many things. Just sitting home washing away a stressful day is the number one use, others are students using it to remain calm while studying for exams or trying to learn something new. People find themselves able to think creatively when feeling in their calm relaxed state.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) as Sharp PS® Green

Phosphatidylserine is one of the most well-researched ingredients for cognitive support, as it currently is the only cognitive bioactive ingredient granted a qualified health claim by the FDA. PS influences the metabolism of several neurotransmitters, including acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. (3)

It has been shown to Promote normal cognitive and mental functions, support our attention span, memory, and learning ability. Phosphatidylserine (Sharp-PS) also enhances mood and balances our response to daily stress.

In the elderly, it has been shown to reduce the risk of dementia and other cognitive impairments.

Sharp PS® Green is soy-free, eco-friendly phosphatidylserine to help maintain and restore memory and mental performance.

Bacopa Monnieri (Standardized to 45% bacosides)

It is mainly used to increase your brain power naturally and to help against anxiety. The anti-anxiety effects decrease ones stress symptoms and at the same time creates a feeling of calmness.  Having these qualities makes it a great general relaxant and quality sleep promoter.

Bacopa Monnieri also encourages the growth of dendrites. Dendrites have two ends, one end is called a dendrite and the other is the axon.  Encouraging the growth of the dendrites improves communication and as a result, speed between neurons allowing better and faster communication through our entire nervous system.

Bacopa has always been known to have the ability to increase our cognitive processing, making learning new things simpler and quicker.  The ability to have better learning powers while under stress is another proven ability of Bacopa.

Extensive studies have shown that Bacopa Monnieri significantly enhances memory in adults.

Bacosides assist acetylcholine, GABA, and serotonin which results in focused thinking, a more clear memory, and enhanced mood.

Maritime Pine Bark Extract

This extract contains compounds called proanthocyanidin antioxidants or tannins which have some really great properties. The most important of them is their ability to remove free radicals from our blood.

Research shows us that pine extracts can reduce narrowing of arteries while decreasing collagen within the arterial wall. This is important in preventing elevated blood pressure and damage to the interior surfaces of blood vessels and resulting in better blood flow to the brain (5).

Because this is the first time this extract has appeared in this blog so I’m writing down is a list of benefits

  • Improved Cognitive Performance & Brain Function
  • Enhancing Physical Performance
  • Increasing Mental Stamina & Blood Flow
  • Antioxidant & Anti-inflammatory Properties

Lion’s Mane

Lions Mane is most known for its excellent brain-boosting power and its potential to stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) from within the brain.

Some animal studies have discovered that Lion’s Mane may be able to help protect the brain against Alzheimer’s disease by protecting the brain cells against degeneration. Although these studies are animal studies, Lion’s Mane increase mental functioning.

On interesting study with senior adults with some minor cognitive impairment suggested that 3 grams of Lion’s Mane in the form of powder for four months did significantly improve mental function.

In 2008, a double-blind study found that lion’s mane very effectively improved cognitive function in a random group of 15 older adults (6).
A study in older adults with mild cognitive impairment found that consuming 3 grams of powdered lion’s mane mushroom daily for four months significantly improved mental functioning, but these benefits disappeared when supplementation stopped (7).

Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins & 1% salidroside)

Rhodiola Rosea is a herb in the Rhodiola genera (Crassulaceae family) which has traditional usage as an anti-fatigue agent and adaptogen compound, and Rhodiola is likely the second most popular adaptogen (second only to Panax ginseng).mind lab pro supplement review

Rhodiola Rosea seems to help regulate our stress response, by lessening the sudden increase in stress hormones.

Rhodiola Rosea has been shown to decrease fatigue in military cadets aged 19-21 years, as shown by the Total Antifatigue Index. (8)

2007, a study found that Rhodiola Rosea may act as an anti-depressant for those with mild to moderate depression (9).

Vitamin B6, B9, B12

Vitamin B6, also known as Pyridoxine, has a primary function of helping keep the nervous system and brain at peak performance, allowing it to function at a healthy rate and improving the nerve communications throughout the body and brain.

If you suffer from a Vitamin B6 deficiency, you are susceptible to among other things, depression, irritability, premature dementia, and loss of muscle control.

Vitamin B9 also called folate or folic acid. Folic acid is crucial for proper brain function and plays an important role in mental and emotional health.

Low folate levels are thought to be connected with the symptoms of cognitive decline in the elderly, epileptic, and psychiatric populations (10). Low folate levels are also associated with degeneration of the cerebral cortex which is responsible for our learning and memory (11).

Side Effects

It’s hard to find any studies revealing any side effects with this nootropic stack so I’ll let the manufacturer speak to that:

“Instead of wondering, “Do nootropics have side effects?”, just go with the sure thing. Mind Lab Pro® unites the best nootropic ingredients that are backed by clinical evidence and shown to be safe and well-tolerated. No risky nootropics, no weird side effects

Cycling Mind Lab Pro

Mind Lab Pro can be used as a long term nootropic because of its benefits, and lack of any real side effects, but just as any nootropic, it is always suggested you cycle to avoid tolerance. Tolerance is your body’s way of adapting to changes. It gets accustomed to what we take and gets used to it. Then the effects begin to diminish. If you decide you don’t want to cycle you will start to feel less and less of what you are taking it for.

The best-suggested cycle is a simple one to follow: you take it for 4 weeks and then stop for 1 week.

Mind Lab Pro suggests a cycle of 5 days on and 2 days off. You choose which is best for you.

Even with this extensive list of ingredients, it is all together and can be stacked itself with something like Noopept which you can read more about here.

I give Mind Lab Pro a thumbs up.

If you are looking for another universal nootropic, you can look at Mind Ignite.  It isn’t quite as comprehensive, but less expensive.

  1. Thanks for the informative and interesting article on nootropics (I had to look up the term and found that it’s a cognitive enhancer, a term that was new to me). I have to confess that I am among those who are new to this sort of thing and, as you said, overwhelmed and not knowing where to start. But with you help I’m able to understand what Mind Lab Pro has to offer. Having read your article, I’d say that your research has paid off, at least for the neophyte like myself.

Thanks for opening up my eyes to all that this line of products has to offer. I’ll have to let you know when I make my first purchase.

    • Thanks for your great comment.  I am glad this site has been able to open your eyes to this type of supplement use.  It is a very exciting field to study up on.

  2. I have read so much about nootropics lately and I have absolutely loved everything that I have read.  I only have one problem there are so many good reviews out there that I dont know which one to choose.  This really is a unique problem to have.

I really did enjoy your review as it says a lot of good things.  I guess I have to make a decision because I really want to try nootropics to see if they really are what they are made out to be.

    Dale

    • Ya, there are a lot of good reviews out there and for good reason.  It’s also a good problem to have trying to figure out which to try.  It can be confusing I know.

  3. Hi Stew, I have only recently discovered the concept of nootropics as a way to improve my brain functions.    So, I am reading as much as I possibly can.   This review was helpful.

I appreciate you taking time to explain what the different ingredients are supposed to do.   For instance, I didn’t realize the benefits that the B vitamins may have on brain function.    I also appreciate your providing links to the research articles.

Since I don’t like taking pills without thoroughly understanding what I am taking and whether there are any natural foods that I could eat instead, I will be looking further into this topic.   Again, I think your links will be very helpful.   I also appreciate the heads up about the need to cycle.   That is not something that I would have thought to do on my own.

    • Thank you for that great comment.  When talking about anything medical it is alway best to reference research studies.

Cycling is always important to prevent tolerance so I’m glad you picked up on that. 🙂

  4. As i go through this article i tend to glance back on my experience with this very product and how it works for me. This product (MIND LAB PRO) is a great product that helped me in the pass to free my mind and think clearly. i therefore recommend this product as one that works for the better of your concentration.

L-Theanine does put you into a calm stress free state and also sharpen your attention and focus to challenge any task worth meditating over. And i can attest to this information as it is written.

My questions toward this article are:                                                                                                                                      How many people today is aware of the usefulness of this produce?                                                                                Would it be wise to promote this product for students/college students who need to focus on their examinations?

My opinion toward this id that the effectiveness of this product is worth investing into.

Thank you very much for this great product review.

    • I think it is promoted towards University/college students and is used quite a bit as I have heard.

Awareness is out there, but there are too many people who turn their noses up at supplements.  Too bad

  5. I have heard about nootropics and the benefits you get for memory, focus, and clarity.  My concern is dementia as my husband and I get older since I’ve seen the heartache that it can bring to families.  Do you know what nootropic supplements are the best for memory?  Would it be good to take one that is formulated especially for memory or a universal stack like this one?

  6. After watching the movie limitless i have really been researching nootropics as it really piques my interest.  I’m really glad you wrote this post as there are a lot of options out there and i am worries about what is safe and not as safe.

I think I’ll start with Lion’s main as that definitely looks like something i need.  Do you have any recommendations on where to get it?

  7. I happened upon your website after watching several videos about the brain. I’ve actually been listening to a lot of people discuss biohacking and what we can do to help our bodies be the very best they can be.  The first thing I had to do though was read what a nootropic was (lol) and found the info you provided super helpful. At first I thought maybe I’d try one of the many supplements you listed on your Nootropics 101 page (St. John’s Wort) but after reading your review here…I’m kinda sold on this stacker. I like the fact that it contains so many awesome ingredients…green tea element included (l-theanine). lol. Thanks for the review and I’ll be back to let you know what I thought/think. 🙂

    • It is a good stack to try and I tell beginners to try it also.

Thank you for that great post and hope to hear your results 🙂

  8. Thank you for this information about this supplement.

Overall this supplement from Mind Lab Pro looks to be a great product, for all the benefits that this pills can offer and specially that is gluten free. since I’m gluten free person and this will be good for me. I like that it can help us with stress and memory as well with other things.

The only problem I will say is the 11 ingredient pre made stack, if we get any side effects it will the hard to know which ingredient is the culprit.

    • Well, these ingredients have been studied over and over with nothing to speak of.  However if there by chance some side effects show up, the offending culprit could be discovered without too much trouble
