First lets start with the vitamins as they are listed first on the ingredients label.

Vitamin C

Ascorbate (vitamin C) is a vital antioxidant molecule in the brain for free radical elimination.

Vitamin C also acts on the nervous system. It plays a role in the differentiation and maturation of neurons and in the formation of the myelin sheath that protects them and speeds impulse transmission and enhancing our cognitive performance.

Vitamin D3

Low levels of Vitamin D have been associated with an increased risk for brain-related disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, autism, and dementia. (1)

Vitamins B6 & B12

Vitamin B6, also known as Pyridoxine, has a primary function of helping keep the nervous system and brain at peak performance, allowing it to function at a healthy rate and improving the nerve communications throughout the body and brain.

If you suffer from a Vitamin B6 deficiency, you are susceptible to among other things, depression, irritability, premature dementia, and loss of muscle control.

Vitamin B9, also called folate or folic acid. Folic acid is crucial for proper brain function and plays an important role in mental and emotional health.

Low folate levels are thought to be connected with the symptoms of cognitive decline in the elderly, epileptic, and psychiatric populations (2). Low folate levels are also associated with degeneration of the cerebral cortex which is responsible for our learning and memory (3).

Artichoke Leaf Extract (5% Cynarin)

Artichoke contains high levels of many beneficial antioxidant polyphenols . The main ones are chlorogenic acid, cynarin, and luteoli.

Bacopa Monnieri Leaf Extract (45% Bacosides)

This great Ayurvedic adaptogen.

This is a great Ayurvedic adaptogen. Extensive studies have shown that Bacopa Monnieri significantly enhances memory in adults can be perfect for students. (4)

Bacosides assist acetylcholine, GABA, and serotonin which results in focused thinking, a more clear memory, and enhanced mood. Research shows it may even boost cerebral blood flow.

Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline (Alpha-GPC)

Qualia focus review
Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC quickly and reliably delivers choline to the brain for the creation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

If you increase the amount of choline available to your brain, you will have an easier time with learning and remembering new things, as well as a variety of other brain health benefits that can improve your life as a whole.

DL-Phenylalanine

May improve mood and anxiety levels. Takes part in the catecholamine conversion pathway, similar to L-tyrosine.

In this study, 20 patients suffering every day for depression were given 200 mg of DLPA every day for three weeks. At the end of the study, 12 patients no longer had depression, and 4 patients experienced mild to moderate improvements in their mood. (5)

Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCl

Acetyl l-carnitine (ALCAR) is an amino acid produced naturally by our bodies This advanced form of l-carnitine very good at fat burning and helps our body produce energy. This increases energy in your brain and helps boost our cognitive abilities.

It is also a very strong antioxidant That crosses the Blood-Brain Barrier where. From there it helps to produce acetylcholine and healthy blood flow to the brain.

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine is an amino acid that has an influence on adrenaline and dopamine in the brain in order to reduce stress and mental performance. (5)

NALT is shown to improve our attention, our concentration, and motivation. It also enhances our memory and learning ability.

Uridine-‘5-Monophosphate disodium

Uridine is one of 5 nucleotides that make up a nucleic acid. It is an important component of RNA and plays a big role in central nervous system function. It also helps with our attention, long and short term memory.

Taurine

Taurine is found in high amounts in the brain, heart, retina and blood platelets. (6) Early clinical research suggests that taurine, in combination with caffeine and B vitamins (Red Bull Energy Drink), can improve attention and reasoning in adolescents, but does not improve memory. (7)

Human studies may show that trained athletes supplementing with taurine experience improved exercise performance. (8)

L-Theanine

We drink green tea to make ourselves calm and content and it works because of the compound L-theanine. Green tea is now being consumed around the world for its calming effect. Several scientific studies have and are continuing to back up with clear evidence of the health benefits of green tea with their focus being on L-theanine. L-theanine is a calming amino acid that promotes alpha-wave brain production.

Organic Coffeeberry

Some consider caffeine to be a nootropic, but I’m not so sure. Anyway, coffee beans have always been rich in antioxidants. These are very beneficial to our bodies. Coffee with caffeine will definitely increase your alertness but there is a crash as it wears off.

Benfotiamine

Benfotiamine is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin B1. It is shown to provide some neuroprotective benefits. It is also quite a good source of Vitamin B1 and B1 enhances our energy, our mood, and our alertness.

Mucuna pruriens Seed Extract (50% L-Dopa)

L-dopa, an amino acid converts into dopamine, which is a very an important brain chemical associated with our mood, sexual desire, and body movement.

Users experience better mood and increased motivation. Because it raises dopamine levels, it is used as a natural antidepressant.

Theobromine

Theobromine is a central nervous system stimulant with a slow onset with a long duration of effect. It has no associated crashes like other stimulants such as caffeine. Being a stimulant, it will speed up reaction times and our mental processing.

Celastrus paniculatus Seed Extract

Celastrus paniculatus is used in Ayurvedic medicine because of its nootropic and neuroprotective effects. It contains several bioactive compounds shown to enhance cognitive function by improving memory and learning. It also protects our brain from oxidative damage and neurotoxicity.

Ginkgo biloba Leaf Extract

Ginkgo is widely used in Europe for treating dementia. It thought to improved blood flow to the brain, and more recent studies show that it may protect nerve cells from damage in Alzheimer’s patients.

Some studies show that Ginko may be beneficial to people with dementia however, more research is still needed.

Coleus forskohlii Root Extract

Forskolin is an active compound found in the roots of the Indian coleus (Coleus forskohlii), a tropical plant related to mint.

Forskolin stimulates the release of stored fat from fat cells. (10) However, this stored fat release is not enough to help in weight loss without lowering caloric intake.

Huperzine A

Huperzine A is a natural plant-based neuroprotector found in may herbs that are known to have enhanced memory and learning properties.

Huperzine A is very useful because of its ability to inhibit an enzyme in our brains that breaks down an important chemical known as Acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is very important for our memories and our learning ability.

Qualia Focus Side Effects

There are no real known side effects to Qualia Focus making it another safe product to use.

Even though this formula contains caffeine, it is unlikely to cause jitters due to its low dosage.

The manufacturer has included a label containing information about any drug interactions. This is shown below.

Pros

  • Qualia Focus is created with the same care as the original Qualia blend making it a top-notch product
  • It is a bit pricey but cheaper than Qualia Mind

Cons

  • Qualia Focus doesn’t really add anything particularly “focus sharpening”, as compared to the Qualia Mind formula.
  • By cutting down the number of ingredients, they removed some great nootropics.

Where to Buy

Qualia Focus is available on Amazon.com. It doesn’t appear on Amazon.ca and I can’t speak for other countries.

Conclusion

The simple answer is yes, however, based on many reviews from different sellers, the verdict is still out on whether it is actually has a different effect than the original Qualia Mind.  I think that you may just find yourself achieving the same effect as Qualia Mind but at a cheaper price.

From this, you will have to decide for yourself if it is better or different and does it focus on focus?
